Local production of alternative protein has faced economic and regulatory challenges. In this context, PHYLA, a SEQUENCIVE Company, led the Kingdom's first applied study evaluating insect protein as a safe and sustainable source for poultry feed, with the goal of localizing the feed industry and strengthening domestic production and food security.

The trial was conducted at King Saud University in partnership with Arasco and Tanmiah. The study's progress was discussed, along with the regulatory requirements and the future steps needed to develop and localize the alternative protein sector.
